  • Well, today went quite well.  Hubby went back to work after a short vacation.  Missed having him around at first but then I began to get things done around here.  Had to sort a pile of clothing I have been stashing in my bedroom to give to the Salvation army.  Some to be kept for our Hospital used clothing sale in the fall.  Made quite a difference in my room.  Then decided to so some sewing.  Made a cloth baby book for sale in the Hospital gift shop.  It is totally non-profit.  I give the shop 30% so I just cover my expenses.  All profits go to the hospital equipment fund.  Our aim this year is a digital mammograpy unit.  Fed my little wild raccoons, man they love marshmallows. LOL  Even went for a walk.  Thought I'd go get the newspaper but it is Sunday, no paper.  We have a mailbox, BTW.  Must get more baby booties knitted, along with cotton dishclothes for the shop.  They sell quite well but keep me busy.  I knit when I watch tv, problem is there is crap on tv.  So I end up playing games on POGO.  Love that site.  It is warm and humid today, while we wait for rain and thundershowers.  The mosquitoes are wild again.  I don't mind getting bitten by them, well, I do mind, but there is one species that when it bites, it stings like heck.  The others just itch, which is bad enough.  Heard WD40 is good for bites so I tried it.  It really does ease the itch some, but not completely as I was told.  Oh, well, what you hear is not always correct.  What was that my Dad used to say?  Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.  I think that is a good philosophy.  That was my exciting day, other than a few bites. LOL

  • A Really Fun Day

100_3258Before the parade, we found a place in the shade.  The ladies of our Auxiliary who took part in the float.

100_3263 Getting ready to leave.100_3272 And away we go, golf clubs in hand.  Ladies golfing tournament will raise money for our Digital Mammogram machine. I'm on top, of course.

Today turned out to be surprisingly a very happy day for me.  First I was happy to be invited to ride a float in our local parade, but the result was so gratifying.  I was on the top step, waaaay up high on the float.  It felt good being on a float for our Foundation, which had the theme of breast cancer.  We are raising money for a new digital mammo machine, therefore a pink float.  But the most gratifying part of it all was the smiles on the faces of children, mentally handicapped and elderly people, when I waved to them and said Hi.  I will probably be sore tomorrow from all the waving and hi'ing but it was well worth it.  It was a beautiful sunny day, with a slight breeze blowing on me up there.  I always wanted to be in a parade and finally got my wish but did not really expect it to make me feel so good.  I actually made people smile for a moment.  I forgot all about my aches and pains for an hour and a half.  Damn, it felt good!!
